Newsfeeds Lesen a la GTD
Daniel Miessler hat den Ansatz von GTD bzgl. des Lesens von Newsfeeds weitergedacht:
the urge to check the latest goings on in the blogsphere and/or news is overpowering. We simply can’t help but be distracted by the thought of something new and exciting hitting the Internet without us knowing. Much productivity is lost during the day specifically because of this phenomenon; but there’s hope. The answer lies in a two-step process — 1) using a dependable system, and 2) learning to trust that system.
Des Problems Lösung besteht dann einerseits darin, einfach auch mal loszulassen, sich nicht vom Wahn immer alles und unbedingt in Echtzeit zu rezipieren treiben zu lassen, und andererseits für sich einen effizienten (Shortcuts verwenden,…) und vertraubaren (ich erfasse alles, ich verpasse nichts,…) Workflow definieren.

Konfabulator (eine Laufzeitumgebung für Widgets, also kleine und üblicherweise hübsche Minianwendugen die auf dem Desktop leben und nützliches tun oder einfach nur hübsch sind) wurde von Yahoo gekauft, gute Nachricht für alle:
Für die User: Konfabulator ist jetzt gratis (Windows und OS X).
Für die Widget-Entwickler: Yahoo wird im Rahmen ihres Developer Networks einige APIs anbieten, ein Ozean von Daten steht bereit.
Für Apple: damit wird sich die leidliche Diskussion, ob das Dashboard von Tiger nun einfach 1:1 kopiert wurde, oder ob nicht Konfabulator Ideen aus dem Jahre 1984 von Apple geklaut hat, hoffentlich erübrigen.

Denken in Feeds
Jeff Jarvis denkt über Feeds nach, und wie sich das Web verändern wird. Feeds sind dabei die treibende Kraft im Übergang zum Web 2.0.
Web 1.0 is built primarily on the former, the resources and articles and pages and mostly static things: It’s about stuff that sits and is found at an address. It’s about search. It’s about URLs and permalinks. It’s about Google and Yahoo before that. All that is valuable, always will be.
But Web 2.0 adds on the wonders of the latter: feeds (RSS, Atom, FeedBurner, et al); lists (OPML, etc.); conversations (blog posts, Technorati links, PubSub feeds, comments); swarming points (tags on Flickr, Del.icio.us, Technorati, Dinnerbuzz); heat sensors (Blogpulse et al); aggregations (e.g., Command-Post.org); communities (Craig’s List, et al); alerts (Craig’s List feeds); decentralized distribution (bittorrent, etc.); and on and on.
