# blockchain

@stalfel The blockchain is a technology for accounting under the condition of deep social distrust. We should be very careful in which cases we want to validate this assumption by deploying blockchain-based applications.

@marcelweiss ‘deep social distrust’ is a straw man.

@openmedi_neue Can I ask why? Has the level of „distrust“ always been the same? Does it not make a meaningful difference?

@marcelweiss Tools to create trust are just that. Wether they be trademarked brands, taxi medallions, user reviews or something built atop a blockchain. I’m not sure where exactly you’re going with „deep social distrust“ (shady use cases? A societal „trust problem“?) but it doesn‘t matter.

@openmedi_neue I agree but some tools might be more in fashion depending on the ‘here and now’, no? The bigger the solutionist claim the more it seems to articulate a need or lack of sth., I’d say.
