Piczo And MyVideo Team Up

San Francisco based teenage network Piczo has announced a strategic partnership with Germany’s largest video sharing site MyVideo at the Web 2.0 Expo today.

Both parties see mutual benefits: the two million German Piczo users will have access to 1.5 million videos and will be able to easily watch them, add them to their profiles or recommend them to their friends. Since many of those videos are in German Piczo hopes to drive its growth by providing local content; MyVideo will gain access to two million teenagers, one of their target audience groups according to CEO Anca-Alina Seghedi. Piczo and MyVideo will share the revenue from ads.

The traffic of MyVideo has been on the decline since January so this partnership will help them strengthen their lead in terms of delivered video streams, but their strategy seems to solely rely on propagation and is utterly lacking any sort of vision on how to organically drive content and create a momentum. Their notion of quality content basically consists in reusing parts of the shows from parent company and television network Pro7Sat.1 (see Pro7Sat.1 Takes Over MyVideo), running a few specials and tons of music videos.
