Spotn A User Driven Site For Video Instructables

The web is a gigantic possibility space which lets us do stuff. Hence it is no coincidence that blogs which merely point us to the ever new stuff are amongst the most popular ones, just take a look at the Technorati 100.

Of course it would be highly (personally and societally) inefficient if everybody would have to find out for herself what could be done or how something can be done. Hence the second order popularity of blogs which do exactly that (Lifehacker, Make, Instructables, etc.)

This is a statement of the obvious, of course, but think about the empowering qualities that potentially can be triggered and the aggregated collective value that can be created, just because one node in the network provides a solution to a common everyday problem and makes it available to every other node.

Anyway, usually the best way to learn how to do something is to watch someone else do it step by step. With Spotn Germany now has its very own site for video turorials.

The site is entirely user driven, all sorts of instructions on how to do everyday tasks are welcome. Companies are encouraged to contribute videos on how to make good use of their products, too. The navigation is rather simple, you can browse by category or by tags and video can be rated regarding their usefulness. And that’s about it.
