Timemachine Warps You Back In Time

Most people above 30 wish they were ten years younger, for various obvious reasons. On the other hand most people under 22 wish they were ten years older, because they never were able to experience those exciting early days of the web, when websites were trashy, animated and intense.

No longer. Tobias Leingruber’s Timemachine is an extension for Firefox which lets you take a break from the cosy and in its stylish sophistication ultimately boring design aesthetics of the Web 2.0 and lets you browse the web like it’s 1997.

Once installed pages you visit are restyled on the fly and Timemachine warps you back to the amateur web of the 90’s. This is a must have extension for every webworker since it playfully deconstructs the semiotics of the web we commonly just got used to take for granted.

Tobias is a student at the New Media @ Merz Akademie in Stuttgart.
