WidgetLabs Receives Seed Funding

Two months old Cologne based WidgetLabs has received seed funding from iSteps Ventures.

WidgetLabs to my knowledge is the first company to specialise in the development of Facebook applications, desktop- and web based mashups and other variants of widgets in Germany.

Since there is a huge demand for all sorts of self-promoting nano-applications – basically every German web startup knows that they want a widget and be available on Facebook, but many don’t have a clear strategy about the why and often they don’t know how to go about it, which often results in a trial and error based development since the resources and knowledge have not been pooled yet – they very well might fill this gap.

For the time being their record is not very fat though. They developed a Guestbook widget for imageloop, another company iSteps has invested in and they provide a RSS Reader Widget, the ‘Hello World’ application for every widget developer. You need to start somewhere.
