Brands4friends Launches Closed Shopping Community

Berlin based Vente privée site brands4friends launched today.

It is a closed shopping community – you only become a member if another member invites you – which sells well known brands at a significant discount in limited quantities to its members. Usually the offerings last for a week or until sold out.

French based inspiration vente-privee.com is doing increasingly well in France: 3.5 million unique visitors monthly, number three in sales for e-commerce sites which sell clothing and expected revenues of 350 million Euro in 2007 (see Exciting Commerce for more details.)

No wonder investors – which include the usual suspects like Holtzbrinck Ventures, Spreadshirt’s Lukasz Gadowski, StudiVZ’s Ehssan Dariani and Oliver Jung amongst others – hope this concept will translate to the German market as well. The close ties of the investors with page impressions machine StudiVZ should help them, the first cross marketing interventions actually already have been started.
