Manage Your Reputation With MyON-ID

Who you are online for many people becomes equally or even more important than who you are offline. There is a vast amount of information about us available on the web which does affect our reputation – e.g. already a third of potential employers will scan your name on Google before they invite you for an job interview, 10% even look up your name at various social networks.

myON-ID wants to help people building and maintaining a good reputation by providing a single point of entry for accessing the information already available on the web. Users can create a profile and search for information on themselves. The twist is that they can aggregate the search results on their profile and add context or relevance by annotating, tagging and rating these search results. Users thus can highlight and promote the information they want to be accessed or provide their own point of view on information which misrepresents them.

There also is a reputation-index widget which calculates the level of trustworthiness of the reputation of a user on a scale of none to 500. The more confirmed contacts or postive ratings a user has got, the higher the reputation-index. Since there is a competitive reflex triggered in many people to game such systems I doubt this index will provide much significance, but it is a fun way to promote the profile on a website or personal blog – which in turn might help myON-ID getting the necessary level of Google juice.

myON-ID was founded by Jürgen Wachtmeester, Mario Grobholz, Roman Pritzkow, Alexander Faißt and Marc Steinmetz and is based in Cologne.
