Feedbuddy Find New Friends By Feed
Berlin based Feedbuddy is a new social network which matches people based on their feeds. This makes sense since “Subscribing to and reading special RSS-feeds characterizes you and your very special interests: they add up to your feed-profile.”
You create your feed-profile by adding feeds one by one or by uploading an OPML document. Feedbuddy then displays other members with similar interests. It is up to you to contact them via Skype, Xing, LinkedIn or their website, which currently are the supported communication channels. It seems a little odd that you can’t send messages directly to other members or add them as friends within Feedbuddy, but this also might be considered to be a feature reducing the noise.
The idea of publicly sharing feeds and matching similar lists is not new – Dave Winer’s Share Your OPML basically does the same. But the focus on making new connections is.
Feedburner is developed by Dominik Faber and Marion Mangold.
